Har ki Dun is a resting place region in the center of Govind Ballabh Pant National Park, at an altitude of 3566 meters. Har Ki Dun Trek

Itinerary for the Har ki Dun trek

Day 1: Travel from Dehradun to Sankri (200 km, 8-9 hours)

arrive at the same time in Sankri Village, join the trekking guide, and make your way to Meraki Sankri’s guesthouse/homestay.

Day 2: Sankri – Taluka – Seema/Osla (Driving distance: 12 km; hiking distance: 14 km)

Sankri and Taluka are connected via a 12-kilometer jeepable highway. The route goes through deep chestnut, walnut, and chinar woods. The trail from Taluka to Seema follows the right bank of the Supin Riverbed. You’ll have to traverse wooden walkways across rivers and take short slopes every now and again.

Day 3: Seema/Osla – Har ki Dun (Trek length: 12 km)

Upon passing Seema, visitors will be greeted by a massive footbridge over the Supin River; traverse it and ascend a hard path till you approach a little footbridge over a creek. This is a difficult ascent that will take you anywhere from half an hour at a time. For another 4 kilometers, the walking track is accessible, progressively advancing towards the left summit across a large stretch of beautiful green grassland.

Upon approaching Kalkati Dhar, the landscape will alter and the terrain becomes less and less difficult. Hata Peak is accessible shortly after the trail frees up.

The village of Har ki Dun is located at the base of Hata Peak. At Har ki Dun, there is indeed a lovely camp area with a peaceful creek running through it. It’s the best trekking spot you’ll find on your walk to Har ki Dun.

Day 4: Har ki Dun – Jaundhar Glacier/Maninda Tal – Har ki Dun – Jaundhar Glacier

The sun comes up over Swargarohini Peak when you start waking up. You could either unwind in Har ki Dun or go on one of the two adjoining hikes, Jaundhar Glacier or Maninda Tal.

Day 5: Osla/Har Seema’s ki Dun (Trek length: 12 km)

Return to the very same route and make a trip to Osla, a remote though traditionally rich settlement. In the opposite direction of Seema sits Osla Village. Talk with the locals before returning to Seema at midday. Stay overnight in Seema or Osla.

Day 6: Sankri – Seema – Taluka (14 km trek, 12 km drive)

Hike straight to Taluka and then to Sankri Village after supper. Sankri Meraki Guesthouse is where you will spend the night.

Day 7: Sankri Depart

Take a bus or taxi via Sankri to Dehradun early the next morning. Our adventure will come to a close in Sankri Village.

Some traveling tips

Despite the fact that the Har Ki Dun trek is rated as simple, the distance traveled is considerably greater. As a result, hikers must be fit and healthy to complete this journey.

When traveling during the rainy season, be careful and make sure the information about road circumstances with local councils, tour groups, or tour companies prior to embarking on your journey or excursion.

Mythological facts about Har ki Dun

The slope of the beautiful Swargarohini Peak is home to Har ki Dun. This dog is said to have been sent over to the heavens with Yudhisthir of the Mahabharata from any of this summit. The Mahabharata’s protagonists are heavily influenced by the forefathers of the people that live in this area.

The Kauravas and Pandavas, fabled monarch soldiers and rulers in the epic Mahabharata, were claimed to have ruled over this region and its environs.
