Benjamin found not guilty of rape charges
Benjamin Mendy was arrested in November 2020 and was charged with rape in August 2021. The Guardian recently shared a post about Manchester player Benjamin Mendy. He has been found not guilty of raping 4 women. Benjamin has also not been found guilty of sexual assault during alcohol-fuelled parties at Cheshire mansion. He has cleared unanimously six rape charges and one sexual assault after fighting for five-month at Chester crown court. But Benjamin will face a second trial when the jury was unable to provide clear verdicts on rape charges and attempting a rape charge.
Benjamin appeared close to tears in court where he had been accused as a predator. People accused him of being a predator who pursues women for sex into a game during parties in Covid lockdown. He has been accused that he raped six women in his home. Meanwhile, Benjamin Mendy told the jury that all women who accused him of rape chared wanted to have sex with him. He added in his statement by denying the sexual assault of a woman in his kitchen.
After the verdict, Mendy said he is satisfied with the acquittals and he is looking forward to clearing his name on remaining counts so he can start rebuilding his life. Mendy has a trial on 26 June for his two remaining charges. It has been more than 2 years since he was arrested for the first time. This player has been accused of seven counts of rape against four women and one sexual assault against a fifth woman. Broke into tears when Mends was found not guilty of three rape charges against two women. Matturie had been known as the footballer’s fixer. The jury was unable to provide verdicts on the other six charges; four rape charges against three women and two sexual assaults. He will go on trial for those charges on 18 September.
For the trial, a jury of four women and seven men was discharged after deliberating for about 70 hours over a period of 14 days. Meanwhile, one juror had been discharged through the trial. The player quotes on this trial that sleeping with lots of different women was normal. Sometimes on the same night, they even had sex with his friends. He also added that being a famous football player it’s easy to pick women at nightclubs and take them to his home. Six women have accused Mendy of assaulting them between October 2018 and August 2021 inside his gated mansion as he often had illegal parties during the lockdown. Those parties involved alcohol, nitrous oxide balloons, and sometimes guests stripping down in the pool. Guests would have sex in rooms over the home and sometimes they also swap partners.
One woman who was only 17 claimed that she was raped by Mend and Matturie on the same night. Meanwhile, men were cleared for rape related to her. The prosecution claimed that it was Matturie who procured attractive young women for Mendy and brought them to his house. After several weeks of trial, the judge ordered the jury to find both Matturie and Mendy not guilty of raping a 19-year-old woman after a video emerged. The video showed having enthusiastic and obviously consensual sex with Matturie. In Mandy’s defense, the team suggested that if one woman had lied, there could be possibilities that other allegations were also just made up.
Eleanor Laws KC quoted “What you have actually seen with your own eyes in this case is – I hesitate to use the word – a real-life liar” as her closing speech in front of the jury. She also added “Someone who has made serious criminal allegations against two men. Any you have watched it play out, unusually, in front of your eyes. Because when ever does a defendant have a film to prove their innocence? Hardly ever.” Meanwhile, Mendy said “learn lots of things about life” when he was in prison. He added that he reflected on behaviors while sitting in the cell.
