Open plan

There are many different static caravans for sale across the UK, each with a unique design, number of bedrooms and layouts to best suit your lifestyle.

Some caravans come with an open-plan kitchen, diner and living space, maximising the natural light and ability to socialise with your friends and family as you enjoy time away, together.

On the other hand, we know how important personal space can be, so there are some caravans in which each room is separate and you can shut yourself in the kitchen or lounge for some well-deserved peace and quiet.

However, for young families or groups of friends, open plan is generally the more desirable option as you can keep an eye on little ones or maximise the time in which you can enjoy each other’s company.

Maximum bedrooms

Some two-bedroom caravans can sleep as many as six people, so when considering how many bedrooms you’ll need, you might want to look into how you could use the other space available. However, if you’re looking for a romantic getaway, you probably won’t need a lot of bedrooms and can focus on maximising the space in the rest of your caravan.
However, if you’re looking for a family break or getaways with friends, it’s likely you’ll want to ensure there’s a bed for everyone, as sleeping on the sofa in a communal space, even if it does pull out into a camp bed, might not be an ideal long-term solution for frequent visitors.

All the add-ons

Whether you choose to buy your caravan fully furnished or kit it out yourself, there are a variety of add-ons you could purchase to cater to all your needs and take your holiday home to the next level.

In certain static caravans and holiday homes, you can add on the likes of a hot tub, extra parking, decking, central heating, and more! All are designed to cater to your holiday needs.

Colour schemes

The beauty of caravan ownership is that you have the option to design your caravan however you want, but there are certain colour schemes that you could consider to help make your holiday home feel as welcoming as possible:

  • White, cream, neutrals

The colours of your room should complement the already existing features within your caravan, and if you’re thinking of renting it out at any point, then playing it safe with whites, creams and neutral colours is probably your best bet.

There are more than 50 shades of white on the market these days to help you create your perfect blank canvas. Helping to bring a light and airy feel to your space, you could opt to accessorise the space with pastel colours for a spring-like feel, or pop some contrasting colours in there for a more modern take.

  • Green

You might also want to consider the location of your holiday home, as being surrounded by nature could make your caravan the perfect space to bring the outside in. To do this, earthy greens and browns are your best friends, as green subconsciously evokes thoughts of good weather, open doors and tropical gardens.

Paler shades can help merge the outside world with your inside space, and darker, emerald greens can help to bring a unique and sophisticated elegance.

  • Blue

A colour associated with the sea and sky, blue is a popular choice for properties on the coast, working well with whites and yellows to transport you to long sunny days spent on the sand.

Lighter blues are generally a safer choice, feeling clean and fresh, whilst darker blues display more of a statement in any room.

  • Feng shui

You could adopt the ancient Chinese practice of feng shui and arrange your caravan in a way that is supposed to create balance in your life and home-away-from-home. The idea is that the space is separated into different areas of colours and shapes to strengthen the energy in your home and those specific areas.

Now you’ve taken the first steps to become a caravan owner, how are you going to make the most of your holiday home experience through design and space? Will you be bringing the outside in, with a light and airy open-plan caravan? Or will you escape to the seaside with blue coastal-inspired rooms?
